Timber Frame

Bridgewater Innovative builders constructed this beautiful custom 2,650-square-foot, four-bedroom hybrid timber-frame home that puts a premium on comfort and energy efficiency, has an annual heating bill of less than $350 per year. A combination of a highly insulated building envelope, geothermal heating and heat recovery ventilation allow this home to maintain even temperatures throughout the year with little energy demand.

The design incorporates timber-frame elements where they would have the most impact — in the great room and kitchen, for example — and conventional stick-framing elsewhere. This “hybrid” approach lends the feel of a true timber frame at a lower cost.

The home was a finalist in the US Dept of Energy’s Builders Challenge—a nation-wide program sponsored by the Building America ProgramClick here to read about this home in Timber Frame Living.
